I was going through my cupboard, and the dried foods I have, and realized that with not cooking for awhile, some of my stuff had gone bad. I guess red lentil pasta doesn’t keep that long, even though it is dried.
I threw it all out.
What did not go bad? Split peas. Split peas take years to go bad, apparently, so all mine are still good.
I decided to cook some split peas in the crock pot. Just split peas, and salt. I can add something later when I eat it, but I’ll have something to munch on for awhile.
This really feels so much like Oklahoma during graduate school…there’s not a lot going on, I’m spending lots of time in thought, taking walks, and on a budget.
I think isolation and solitude can do things to a person. It isn’t bad for you. It is so easy to get distracted…the covid stuff has caused me to go through real mental change, refocusing on things that are less superficial. It was just too easy, I guess, to just go out every night, see a new show, meet some new people…I have that tendency, to seek out experiences all the time…what is wrong with just eating legumes every night for dinner? With some salt? And hard boiled eggs? And if I want music, I can sing some songs to myself.
I take the same walk every time, to the park, look at the mountains, and around the trail. I can see well at night.
Maybe I will think of something…
